Planning an Umrah with Masar
An Umrah is four separate arrangements wearing one name: a stay in Makkah, usually a second stay in Madinah, the flights at either end, and the visa and transport that join them together. Two of those four you can do yourself on this website in a few minutes. Masar searches live hotel availability in Makkah and Madinah and live flight fares, so the price you are shown is a real price for your real dates rather than a brochure figure. The other two — the visa and the transfers between the two cities — are arranged by our team by hand, because there is no honest way to automate them.
Choosing a hotel in Makkah or Madinah
In both cities the thing that decides your days is the walk. A hotel in the Central Area of Makkah or in the Ajyad and Jabal Omar districts puts you minutes from the Masjid al-Haram; a hotel further out along Ibrahim Al Khalil Road is a longer walk or a shuttle ride, and costs less for exactly that reason. Madinah works the same way around the Prophet's Mosque. Every hotel listed on Masar shows its distance to the holy site, its star rating and its own cancellation deadline, so you are comparing the things that actually differ instead of guessing from a photograph. Hotels with no availability for your dates are not shown at all.
When to go, and how long to stay
Unlike Hajj, an Umrah can be performed at any time of the year. Ramadan and the school holidays are the busiest and most expensive weeks, and the hotels closest to the Haram are the first to sell out in them. Outside those windows the same room is usually easier to get. The rites themselves — entering ihram, tawaf, sa'i, and cutting the hair — are normally completed within a day, so the length of the trip is yours to decide. Most pilgrims put the Makkah nights first and then travel to Madinah, which is why the two stays are searched and booked separately here.

Masar does not run guided Umrah groups on fixed departure dates, and there is no ready-made package price on this page, because there is no package product behind it. We are a licensed Saudi travel agency: we book the hotel and the flight as the merchant, and a consultant puts the visa, the transport and anything unusual — a large family, a group of rooms, a wheelchair, an elderly traveller — together with you on the phone.
